So today’s the day!! My last day in Australia for two months!! In true Hayley style I got up and went to the gym one last time – I did a pretty intense circuits class, followed by cxworx! I was planning to do one more class but my muscles were hurting too much already so I decided to call it a day!
I headed home stopping at Coles and the bottle shop on the way to buy treats for everyone as a thank you – red wine, beers, chocolates, cheesecake…I think I covered most basis! Ha.
I got home showered and then watched “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” with Filip and Tony – weird film! But good when we eventually understood it! Ha!
Fortunately Filip put some boring programmes on after that which meant I got up off the sofa and finished my packing!! Then I cleaned the living room table and gave the guys my treats. There was certainly some stereotypical action going on this afternoon with all the guys sat around me watching tele whilst I cleared their dirty plates and beer bottles and scrubbed the table!! Ha! I guess I can’t really complain I have been living rent free all week after all!!
Anyway I then watched a bit more tele and had my last supper!! Then before I knew it, it was time for by my goodbyes – fortunately I couldn’t get too upset as the guys don’t really do emotional goodbyes! Haha
Sophie very kindly drove me to the airport – absolute lifesaver! It was so nice to just relax and chat on the au to the airport stress free!
I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare! Baggage drop was very quick as I had already checked in online, but I had to queue for quite a while for border control! When I got near the front however, a new officer walked over to the line to split it and open it up…he said “I wonder if I can do this without people complaining”, to which I responded “give it a go see what happens” ha! The only time I’ve dared to joke with border control!
I then got served by him – really friendly funny guy, said to me “so Hayley you have been after all our men have you?” Ha! I told him I hadn’t any luck so far but I would try again when I return, he said he would keep an eye out for me and put out a warning to the Aussie men when I returned hahaha! A nice start to my trip!
I walked through duty free and within 5 minutes I had been given 3 whiskey tasters and two vodka tasters…not bad not bad at all!
I then had a massage on the $2 massage chairs – I think I could be getting a bit addicted to them! Haha! All in all not a bad wait in the airport at all! Before I knew it it was time to board!
The airplane was ok! We had a sleeping pack each and a power socket to charge my phone which was good!
I ended up sat between two women who were friends but didn’t like the middle seat! It was a bit annoying at first as they kept talking across me but in the end they were nice ladies and didn’t disturb me which was fortunate!!
The flight is LONG!! And very uncomfortable….I wasn’t massively impressed…I had a dodgy lap tray, rubbish was left with us for hours and they ran out of toilet paper!! Buttttt there was a decent selection of films and TV so at least I kept myself occupied…I watched “The Longest Yard”, “The Duff”, some TV shows and a documentary on the boxer Manny Paquiao.
I have slept a bit….on and off…but not nearly enough. The food was ok – lamb casserole with veg and a potato salad, snack of a muffin (or two muffins in my case – she actually tried to give me three as everyone was asleep so they had far too many! Ha!), a packet of crisps, breakfast of a frittata, sausage and fruit and plenty of drinks throughout the journey!!
Well I am going to attempt some more sleep…every little counts right?!
