So I’m backkkk!!! Yes after a lovely trip to Paris, London and Portugal I have returned to the land down under for round 2 of my travels!! Now as any of you who followed my blog would know, my blog posts got significantly more boring as time went on and I was working etc so I have decided to just blog once a week, month…whenever I have something to tell you all about really! With that in mind….let me fill you all in with the details of my first week back in sunny Melbourne!!
And that is exactly how it is – SUNNY and HOT! Yayyy!! But it wasn’t like that when I landed…let me go back to my flight over here…
So Mum, Dad and Natalie took me to the airport and Natalie cheekily asked for any free upgrades for me (apparently I’m a nervous flyer?! haha). Now of course the guy smiled and said no he didn’t have any but I did ask if I could at least have an aisle seat (I could only get a middle seat online) and after a bit of tapping on his computer he sorted me out with not only an aisle seat, but one with no one in the middle and a guy who simply slept the ENTIRE flight!! This allowed me to have a bit of a lay down during the flight which was nice although I didn’t get much actual sleep!! I watched Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 during the flight as I had been told they were worth a watch – they were actually alright as far as an easy watch film goes!!
Then it was on to round two – the deathly 13 hour flight arghhhh!! This time I was in a middle seat but fortunately I was between two nice young girls around my age who I chatted with throughout the flight, especially Tatiana who was from Russia and going to study in Adelaide.
After some questionable food, a heap of films, blogging and in fact some freelance work, it was landing time!! Hoorahhhh! Tatiana and I could barely contain our excitement!! Haha! We got off as quickly as possible and she ran ahead to the baggage collection as she had a connecting flight to get! When we got there we waited agessssss for our luggage to come out!! Whilst waiting I realised my Australian sim wasn’t re-activated like I had asked so I was busy stressing out about that whilst she stressed about getting her next flight! Haha!
Her luggage finally arrived and she ran off – we completely forgot to exchange details which I’m pretty sad about as it would be nice to catch up with her again during my travels…
My bag finalllllllly arrived an hour after landing! But still no phone!! Using the trusty airport wifi I had superman Dad calling Virgin and trying to find out what to do next. I on the other hand was off to the Skybus for the first leg of my journey “home”. Fortunately for me the Skybus had wifi so I managed to Skype call Virgin on my way home and get my Australian sim working again…or so I thought at least…when I got off the bus I tried to order and uber to take me to the house and my 3G wasn’t working arghhhh stressful times!! So in the end I just succumbed to a normal taxi – having only slept 2 hours in the last two days (or something like that) I was not in the right headspace to get trains and walk with my stupidly heavy backpacks!!
So for the fourth time (fifth if you include my long weekend visit) I arrived bags on my back at the Wanda Road residence! There’s something about this house that just keeps you coming back dammit!! Tony was waiting to greet me and no sooner had I got in, I was marching him out the door to go get my favourite buckwheat pancakes for breakfast from The Distributer Eatery in Malvern – yummmmmm!!
Now the house has never been particularly clean….but it has gone so downhill. We have about 2 plate and 2 sets of cutlery and I couldn’t even see a glass!! Apparently they threw it all out when people refused to wash up for so long it was attracting flies – lovely!!!
When we got home from the cafe and I finally laid down on the sofa I finally passed out – for just a few hours though as I wanted to try to beat jet lag!! I made it through the rest of the night and even fully made my new bed and cleaned the room (with antiseptic wound spray as that was all I could find that was remotely a cleaning product!!!)
Now let me see what else have I done this week! The weather here has been awesome so I spent the most part of a day laying in the sun on the balcony – sofas and sun what more could you want?! – working on my tan!! It was really nice to just relax outside with Pierre and Jesper listening to music and reminiscing about old times!
Because I bought Tony breakfast on Monday on Wednesday he cooked me dinner – his delicious bolognese – I didn’t dare watch how well he cleaned the disgusting pans in this house before cook in an effort not to be put off the food!! Haha!
On Thursday I took myself to St Kilda beach for the morning. It was SO hot it was about 34 degrees I believe. It was so very windy however so everyone was being attacked my the sand. At one point a huge gust of wind came and the whole beach was turning away to the left trying to shield their eyes and I could see the sand sweeping over the beach it was crazy!! Being back on this beach was actually a touch disappointing as I forgot it’s a port and therefore there are no waves!! This is no good for me and my new found love of diving through the waves! Ha! But it was nice to be back by the water (even if it was pretty cold!). I then took myself for a frozen yoghurt and headed home for the afternoon.
Thursday night I took Brittany to my Thursday night tradition – SWIMMING!! Yayyy! 🙂 I am so out of practice however and only managed a measly 16 lengths of the 50 metre pool this time – just half what I have done in the past! Then it was spa and sauna time! I got to catch up with Macka and see a few other familiar faces! It was so nice to see everyone as they all welcomed me back and Macka was so excited to see me bless him!!
Friday the weather was a bit rubbish to start so I spent most of the day lazing about the house. It brightened up a bit later and I forced myself out on a run (I have been getting back into running around the park a few times this week in fact!) so I felt a little bit better about my day! Haha! Tonight was Pierre and Jesper’s last night as they spontaneously decided to leave a week early to go do their farm work up in Innisfail! Pierre went to his girlfriends’ house but the rest of us stayed in had a few drinks and chilled for the night which was nice! We even watched some Mighty Boosh which I haven’t seen in ages! Haha memoriessss!!
On Saturday we were meant to go to the zoo but some people weren’t feeling great and I have just had a heap of freelance work come in so we decided to give it a miss this week! So instead myself, Ryan and Tony (not by his own choice) went to the cafe for more pancakes!! I really need to stop buying food! I have also bought sushi twice this week I am back on my sushi addiction!!! Then we said our goodbyes to Jesper and Pierre and I got back to my work! Saturday night was really nice as I stopped working and Linus and Brittany came over for a BBQ. Tony made homemade burgers and we cooked some sausages – after Brittany cleaned the BBQ aussie style – with a can of beer and some paper to scrape it off! Haha! We had two massive burgers each they were tooooo good although I was seriously full!! We actually joked about how we all loved the burgers so much we could end up eating ourselves to death and how if Tony had a burger van he could have that as his slogan – “Tony’s burgers – eat yourself to death!” haha!! Weird I know!! Brittany and I had time to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and catch up some more which was lovely 🙂 After the BBQ the temperature had dropped loads so we headed inside and watched some tele about crocodile hunters – Swamp Hunters maybe it was called?! I then started to fall asleep on the sofa of course!! Haha!
After Brittany and Linus went home, I woke myself up and headed back to my room to continue working…I was EXHAUSTED but freelancer life isn’t easy and I have deadlines to meet so it was down with the caffeine tablet and on with the work!! I managed to carry on until about 2am and then attempted to get some sleep. Attempted being the optimum word…I barely slept I had some bad dreams and was trying to sort work out still in between sleeping which was silly of me. I had my alarm set for 6.30am and got up after about 3 hours of interrupted sleep – I felt AWFUL!! After doing a few changes on some images I just had to get another hours sleep, even I know my limits!!! When I woke up I felt much better!!
So yes today is Sunday and I have spent my whole day doing my freelance retouching, with the exception of going to the gym with Brittany as a break this afternoon. Might as well stay fit if I am going to spend my whole time at a desk eh!! Tonight Ryan cooked Tony and I egg and bacon rolls for dinner bless him – yum yum yum!!
Ok well there you have it – week one in sunny Melbourne!! The house is SO quiet now with just a few of us left…there is a weird couple who the guys call the “junkies” living here too who barely ever leave their room and she is pregnant and as far as we know planning on having the baby and living here still!!! Ridiculous!! At least I have just one more week here now then Mum and Dad will be here and we will be having our family adventures!! Yayy! 😀
I shall leave it here for now!! Hope you enjoy the read!! 😀
Catch yas!
