{"id":2518,"date":"2015-12-10T10:07:35","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T10:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hayleyroosphotography.co.uk\/mosaic\/?p=2518"},"modified":"2015-12-10T10:16:20","modified_gmt":"2015-12-10T10:16:20","slug":"1112-december-parsha-mikketz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hayleyroosphotography.co.uk\/mosaic\/services\/this-shabbat\/1112-december-parsha-mikketz\/","title":{"rendered":"11\/12 December: Parsha Mikketz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Shabbat comes in 3.36pm; goes out 4.45pm<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Clothes seem to be significant in the Joseph story.\u00a0 It seems that whenever things are going downhill, clothes are taken away from Joseph.\u00a0 When things start to improve, Joseph is given clothes.\u00a0 Joseph&#8217;s brothers take his coat of many colors and dip it into blood to make their father think Joseph was dead.\u00a0 Mrs. Potifar tears off his clothes and claims that Joseph tried to attack her.\u00a0 In our parasha, things start to turn around for him.\u00a0 Instead of clothes being taken from him, Joseph is given new clothes.\u00a0 Pharaoh presents Joseph with new royal attire, a wife, and a new name. \u00a0 I can add that interspersed with the Joseph narrative we also get the story of Judah and Tamar \u2014 she disguises herself in order to seduce him.<\/p>\n<p>So the question is \u2014 what is the Torah trying to teach. \u00a0 I would argue that the repeating theme of garments make the point: things are not necessarily as they seem.
