Erev Shavuot services take place in Hatch End with 3 services. All are located at the rear of the Grimsdyke Road car park (free after 6:30pm), Grimsdyke Road, Hatch End, HA5 4HP.
Order of Events
7.00 pm Individual services for Liberal, Masorti and Reform synagogues – Liberal and Reform in Boy Scouts large and small halls Masorti in the Girl Guide Headquarters.
7.50 pm All join for a communal food/drink break (including cheesecake) in the Guides H.Q.
8.20 pm ‘The Income Gap in the Text’ – Three approaches to considering a significant and difficult contemporary issue through studying Jewish sources:
1) Torah text with Rabbi Frank Dabba Smith
2) Book of Ruth with Rabbi Kathleen de Magtige-Middleton
3) Talmudic text with Rabbi Paul Arberman
9.00 pm Plenary Discussion Concerning Income/Wealth Inequality with
Respect to Social Cohesion: How Might the Texts That We Have Just Examined Influence Our Views?
