Kehila magazine keeps you in touch with what’s happening within Mosaic and your synagogue. We know from your feedback that the magazine is appreciated and we are extremely grateful to the team who create the monthly and seasonal editions.
Charities need to advertise to ensure that the people that need them know they are there – ready to help. Advertising also helps these charities reach out to potential donors to attract the funds they require to provide their vital services.
Many of the charities that help our community would love to
advertise in Kehila but are constrained by limited promotional budgets. We would like you to help Mosaic and a charity by sponsoring an advert for the charity in our magazine.
Please donate now:
(or send a cheque to the Mosaic Office, payable to Mosaic Jewish Community, with the name of the charity you wish to support on the back of the cheque)
If you’d like to know more about Cancer Research, Mosaic member Tony Selman is a cancer survivor and volunteer for Cancer Research UK. He was interviewed on Sky News last week and you can see his interview by clicking here (the interview starts after an advert)
A second interfaith ‘Coffee & Cake’ was attended by over 40 members of Wembley Central Mosque, Mosaic, and local churches on Sunday 20th March, jointly organised by Rabbi Frank Dabba Smith and Sohail Ahmed.
The initiative provides congregants from local places of worship with regular, informal meetings to increase understanding, respect, solidarity and harmony.
Joanna Phillips commented “The members of the mosque went out of their way to make us feel incredibly welcome. We bonded over some delicious food as we shared the stories of our faith journeys, finding that we had much in common with each other. I spoke with a member of the Mosque who is a recent graduate on the difficulties of incorporating religion into your life as a young adult and I could see many other Mosaic members forming connections with those from other faiths around the room. I would encourage members of our community to come along to these interfaith events as the people I met were all lovely and it’s so important, especially in the current political climate, to focus on what unites us as humans.”
Our next joint meeting will be on Sunday 17th April for the EcoPeace-Middle East Update – find out more
There is a local knitting group that meets weekly in people’s homes. It is a small and friendly group that knits blankets, squares, and children’s clothing for charity. These items are sent to Israel, Ukraine, and other former Soviet Union countries for needy Jewish people.
If any Mosaic member can knit, sew, and/or crochet, they would most welcome to knit, natter, and nosh.
The branch will meet fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons at 39 Bessborough Road, Harrow, HA1 3BS and our initial programme will include speakers on various subjects.
Do come along, whatever age you are! Help with transport can be provided.
