Masorti Judaism are delighted to invite you to participate in our Jewish Community Organising course this year. Jewish Community Organising is a powerful and engaging leadership training programme aimed at committee and council members, volunteers and emerging leaders within Masorti communities. The course will run from 10am to 4pm on Sunday22nd May, Sunday 5th June, Sunday 19th June and Sunday 3rd July.

1. The foundations of Jewish community.

It has been written by someone who cannot come to shul, who Edwin visits on a volunteer basis through his work with prisons and is part of the person’s rehabilitation programme.

TALLIT BAG FOUND: Did someone drop a grey/blue tallit bag near the shul last week? A member of the public found one in the Hatch End car park last Saturday and isn’t sure it belongs to HEMS or Kol Chai. Please contact office@hems.org.uk if this is yours and we will pass on further details.

Beshert? More than 20 members attended Rabbi Arberman’s discussion about Jewish teaching in relation to luck. There were many varied and interesting insights during a lively discussion. Please keep your eyes open for details of the next education session with Rabbi Arberman.
Roger & Carole Morris were very welcome visitors to HEMS, and a surprise. Our members enjoyed catching up on their news from Israel. We look forward to seeing them again in the new future.
Enjoy walking? Henry Altman tells us that this Tuesdays walk was lovely, in bright sunshine, (mostly). Please see community events for next Tuesdays walk at Ruislip Lido.

Forty eight members and visitors filled the Girl Guide Headquarters for the Hebrew nameblessing last week for Phoebe Ellison with Rabbi Arberman there to perform the mitzvah. We wish Phoebe well with her new name which is after her great grandmother who passed away recently.
New Year and New Council appointees: AGM time is fast approaching on Sunday May 22nd. Whilst one or two faces may be standing down, there are proposals for two well-known faces to re-stand after having been off Council. Whilst we are so appreciative of their interest in the community, we wonder if some other faces might put themselves forward? Do not be shy. Just advise Neil or Edwin if you would like to know more. It is not onerous – or need not be and can be great fun.
PESACH: We are looking at stories about seder nights, and Pesach in general, such as the one that Sam Charkham told us about Afikomen bargaining some years ago. Please drop Edwin an email via office@hems.org.uk, so he can prepare something well in advance.
